New Addition

No, we haven't gone completely nuts and built a random potato cellar off of our master bedroom.

Our daughter arrived at 2:57 p.m. on Friday, September 24th. She was due on the 22nd and rather than leave it to chance, our doctor agreed to induce.

My wife was hooked up to the Pitocin IV at 8:40 in the morning. Apparently, to many folks, Pitocin embodies all that is artificial and evil about industrial, male-dominated medicine. All we can say is that it worked for us. Two contractions and 2.6 pushes later, our daughter popped out. "2.6 contractions?" you ask. I counted to ten twice and then 6. Everyone is doing just fine now.

It's taken a couple of days, but our nearly-three-year-old son is willing to be in the same room with his new sister. I'm getting used to opening a diaper and finding something other than wedding tackle. I suppose these are just the first of many adjustments to come in our household.
