So, as I posted about a few months ago, I've become disenchanted with World of Warcraft. No, actually, I've gone through disenchanted to annoyed. So when I heard that NCSoft was moving the City of Villains release date up to October thirty-first, I was quite happy. A new ground floor I could get in on. And I was quite eager to play the bad guy for a change.
Then, the beta test non-disclosure agreement was lifted, and I read Eric Burns' synopsis of what the game has to offer.
And my hopes - and desire to play the game - turned to ash.
They are introducing rogues.
FUCKING ROGUES!
Check this out:
In PvE, Stalkers are sort of mediocre. Useful for nuking pesky Lieutenants or doing a potent hit on a Boss, but once they've shot their Hide/critical wad, they're ready to roll over and go to sleep. However, Stalkers absolutely own at PvP. I mean, they're beyond death incarnate. A lot of heroes, on their first trip into Bloody Bay or Siren's Call, will discover quickly the "joy" of running along, only to suddenly fall over, dead, with a grinning Stalker standing over their hospital-teleporting corpse. I have to admit, it seems odd to me, given how dubious so many City of Heroes players are about PvP to begin with, that they'd decide to create a specific archetype of gankers, but they have.
What the fuck? Did it bother them, their lack of assholes? Does NCSoft covet the huge and lucrative asshole market? Did it burn inside, knowing that other games included the technology to let players turn invisible and they did not?
What. The. Fuck.
Listen up you colossal fuckheads. Allowing a player to not show up on someone's screen is useful against only one sort of opponent. Other people. It's utterly irrelevant against your computer generated monsters. No, it's only there to screw with other players. To give one player an unfair advantage over another. Not one character, one player.
So it draws the assholes like a power turbine draws iron filings.
Were they missing it? Did they really suffer from the inability of players to go forth and fuck with other players? Was the playing field too level?
Screw you, NCSoft. You had my $50 and lost it right there. You can take your asshole magnet and your assholes and go fuck yourself.
